i dig it - here's why...

Devices in homes are sucking juice off of the electricity grid every second of the day. And homeowners are also increasingly generating their own power with renewable energy. As the world electrifies home energy use is going to change with more demand coming from EVs, ovens, washers, dryers, heat pumps, tvs, stereos, radios, refrigerators… a lot of stuff. Span.io gives folks the power to manage how that power gets used so homeowners aren’t footing the bill. And, as more renewable energy generation gets installed on homes, Span’s system can help manage that too.

HERE's the deal

Buildings Suck (at Saving Energy)

Electrify Everything

Building operations – running the aforementioned ovens, washers, dryers, heat pumps, tvs, stereos, radios, refrigerators – are responsible for 28% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Home electrification and better control will reduce emissions and provide load balancing for renewable energy being built by utilities and homeowners themselves.

Getting rid of fossil fuel powered home appliances can go a long way toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and stop well-meaning folks from giving loads of money to really bad governments that start wars in foreign countries (looking at you, Russia). Span helps make that process of electrification easier for homeowners to manage.

Your Home is Your Castle

Increasingly, it’s not just about having control over how power comes from the electric grid, but how homeowners manage power when it’s NOT coming from the electric grid. Blackouts, brownouts, burnouts, are happening across the country thanks to climate-related disasters like wildfires, droughts, and storms. Span’s control panels help manage backup power and battery systems too, so when the power goes out folks aren’t left in the dark.

$30 Billion

That’s how large Span.io thinks its total addressable market could be if they’re able to replace the electric panels in as many homes as possible everywhere around the world.
