Motif FoodWorks

The Company

Motif Foodworks makes the ingredients for the best-tasting, plant-based alternatives proteins that can replace meat and dairy.

The Mission

Make plant-based products better than any animal option on the planet.

The Product

Motif’s ingredients make plant patties taste meatier, plant cheeses stretchier and meltier, and all animal alternatives a healthier preferred option for people and the planet.

I Dig It - Here's Why...

Moving to a plant based diet is one of the best things that an individual can do to cut down on the emissions that cause global warming. Motif Foodworks makes that proposition easier by ensuring the plant-based foods folks are selling are tastier, healthier, and more sustainable than any beef burger, chicken breast, or cheddar cheese could possibly be.

How It Works

450 Gallons of Water

That’s how much water goes into making every quarter pound burger. Conserving that water is becoming critical as droughts become more frequent – and by encouraging people to switch to a plant-based diet, much of that water can be saved. Tastier foods made with Motif can offer that kind of alternative.

Heme Baby One More Time

Heme is one of the proteins in meats that make them so tasty and Motif’s got a novel way to make it. They’re working with some big partners to use heme as an ingredient in more plant-based patties to drive down costs and increase consumer uptake.

Building With Biology

Motif has a unique relationship with Ginkgo Bioworks, one of the leaders in the field of synthetic biology. Motif’s special access to Ginkgo’s technology means that new products based on biological innovations to make food tastier and healthier will be coming from the exclusive partnership.

30% of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Animal agriculture currently contributes about one-third of the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming and the climate crisis. If Motif’s products can make plant-based foods tastier, healthier, and the default for grocery store shoppers, then backing the business is a no-brainer.
